ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The experiences of living abroad, crossing borders, and traveling freely are apart of my American experience. I take for granted the ease in which I move freely taking  photos to support my art work. Over the past 15 years my relationships to the people and places have deepened and connected me to the current debates about the Deferred Action Childhood Arrival repeal, border walls, and increase xenophobia. I don’t believe we can be silent in these times, so I scream with my votes, in the streets, and with my art. This piece is about my complicated relationship with my brothers and sisters suffering as a result of the isolationist actions by so many in the world. We stand on the verge of a world divided by ideas, divided by lack of education, divided by a lack of compassion. I hope you see yourself in this piece and it creates an opportunity to dialogue about what we can do to support our brothers and sisters.
